The best AA battery for trail cameras

The perfect battery for trail cameras.  1.5v AA batteries have always been the better option for trail cameras but 1.2v rechargeables are always more economical over time as they can be recharged and re-used over and over again, bringing their "per use" cost down constantly and making them much, much cheaper over time than disposable 1.5v lithium batteries.

Up until now (I'm writing this in May 2026), 1.5v rechargeable batteries have not been available.  XTAR have changed that with their Lithium 1.5v rechargeable AA, it's 2700mA output too, so ideal for use in trail cameras and other devices that work better with 1.5v over 1.2v.

Do I need a specific charger for these Lithium batteries?

Lithium AA Rechargeable batteries require a AA charger that is Lithium compatible, so if you don't already have one then make sure you add one to your basket.  The XTAR L8 charger can recharge up to 8 batteries simultaneously.  It's built specifically to charge the XTAR Lithium AA batteries.  It has LEDs to let you know when a battery is charging and/or fully charged.
