FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Can I use these software’s on as many phones as I need?  Yes, users can use the tools inside the kit on as many devices as they wish.

Do I need the pass code for phones I wish to examine, using the phone tools inside the cell phone investigation kit?  If a device has a pass code or pattern lock, users need to know the pin code/ pattern lock code to access the device.  If a SIM Card has a pass code, users need to know the code to examine the SIM Card.

How long does the subscription last?  Users can use the tools inside the kit for as long as they need to, providing they update their devices using the onboard updater, at least once every 12 months.  Failure to update a tool will mean your device will not have access to the latest phone updates and may not work correctly.

Can any of the software included in the Mobile Phone Investigation Kit be conducted on a Mac computer?  No, unfortunately the software has been designed for use on Windows machines.

How long will the recovery process take?  This depends upon the speed of the processor in the computer to which the phone is connected for the recovery process and actually how much data is stored on the phone. The process when using a PC with a fast processor and phone that has only had light usage may take only 6 minutes or so, however a slow PC processor and a heavily used phone may mean the process could take an 45 minutes or maybe even more. Photo Backup may take longer dependent upon size of stored imagery.

Is the SIM Card Seizure recovery process faster or does it take as long as the other softwares?  The SIM Seizure process is much quicker, generally less than a minute to pull any information from the SIM card, if any data has been stored on there.

How far back can I recover deleted data?  This will all depend on whether the data has been overwritten on the phone’s memory. Generally we found that the previous six weeks worth of data was not normally overwritten, but this cannot be guaranteed. That said, we have known of cases where deleted data a year old has been recovered or partially recovered.

Will the iRecovery, Phone Recovery and Photo Backup software work on iPads, iTouch models and Android tablets?  Yes, you will be able to recover from these devices successfully, but you will not get much from them, since they do not generally get used like a mobile phone, so there will be no text messages, contacts, nor call logs, etc.

What if a new operating system comes out. Will the softwares in this investigation kit be rendered useless in that instance?  Updates do come out generally 4 to 6 weeks after new versions of operating systems are launched to ensure the most data possible and to support new versions of iPhone and Android phone operating systems. Under the Tools menu at the top of the program is an update option. You must be connected to the Internet for it to complete an update.
