What’s the difference between an audio recorder and a listening device?

Some audio surveillance devices can be used to “listen in” live and these are often referred to as listening devices, whilst others are for recording audio to play back and review later at your own convenience.

Occasionally you’ll find a device that will do both, such as our covert Black Vox WiFi product.

What is voice activation recording?

This is really “sound activation” rather than “voice activation”.

Some of our covert audio recorders can be set to “sound activation” mode which means they will start recording when they detect some noise such as a nearby conversation for example. With these sound activated recorders they can just be left to do the job for you without you even needing to push a button to start recording. They do also usually have a manual / continuous record mode too if that is what is required.
